Kathleen Poe received a letter from a peace mediation center in 2015. It sought to resolve a non-violent, peacful conflict with a man she had dated. Her response was to lace up her Nike sneakers and march into her local police precinct to have the man charged with stalking. Under New York's defective 4th Degree Stalking Law, the man was convicted and sent to prison. The man was not offered a New York City jury of his peers. This tragic case uncovers the inherent flaws of New York's 4th Degree Stalking Law, which every day sends innocent, non-violent citizens to jail and prison, and wreaks havok amongst New York communities.
